Two randy teachers of a primary school in the Dutsen Tanshi area of Bauchi, have been nabbed by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly raping a 6-year-old pupil.

This was disclosed on Thursday by the state Commissioner of Police, Garba Umar while giving a report of the command’s efforts at reducing crime in the state.

According to Umar, the suspects, Sani Abubakar, 39; and Usman Hassan, 33, were arrested on March 8, 2017, at about 9am for the alleged crime.

Umar said, “The suspects lured the six-year-old girl and defiled her at a primary school in Dutsen Tanshi. Unfortunately, the two suspects are the victim’s teachers in the same school.”

He added that detectives attached to the Burra division, on March 12, 2017, arrested a 20-year-old man in Burra town, in the Ningi Local Government Area of the state, for allegedly raping his four-year-old relative.

The commissioner said the victim had been admitted at the Burra General Hospital.

He noted that the command also arrested three others for kidnapping-related offences in the Ganjuwa area.

Umar told journalists that on March 13, 2107, his men arrested one Umar Yusuf, 30, and Mustapha Abbas, 25, for robbery.

He said, “The suspects stormed the residence of one Ahmadu Dadin of Jibin village, beat him and his family members up and demanded N500,000, or they would kidnap his entire family members.

“Discreet investigation led to the arrest of the suspects and they have all confessed to the crime. The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.”

The police boss said the command’s anti-kidnapping unit arrested one Abubakar Mohammed, in the Ganjuwa area for allegedly kidnapping one Alhaji Yahaya Rabiu, 40, of Baya village.

“The hostage was released after the payment of N700,000 ransom. The suspect will be charged to court after investigation is concluded,” he added.
