Single Mother Who Uses Charm To Steal From People Arrested In Lagos

A single mother identified as Ayobami Ojo, who used a native charm to steal from people, has been arrested after the charm failed her twice in Lagos.


Ojo, who hails from Oyo State, was arrested when she tried to used the charm to steal from a shop owner identified as Mrs Olatade Olubukola, at 18 Mufutau Adeyemi Street, Orelope in Idimu, Lagos.

Ojo who, according to information gathered, had used the charm to steal from more than 30 victims, as usual went to Olubukola with the aim of stealing from her. She used the charm to ask Olubukola to give her a sum of N13,000, which Olubukola did. Thinking her charm had worked, Ojo started walking away, but Olubukola confronted her and asked for her money and that was when the drama started.

She attempted to escape by invoking her charm to silent Olubukola, but the charm failed her again. This made Olubukola to raise an alarm which attracted the neighbours who apprehended the suspect.

She was handed over to the police at Idimu division where she confessed that she had been using charm to steal from people and that she did not know that she would be caught at Olubukola’s shop.

According to her, the charm also allows her to disappear whenever she wants.

She was charged before the Magistrates Court sitting at Ejigbo, but she pleaded not guilty.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr Akeem Fashola granted her bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in the like sum.

She was remanded in prison custody pending when she would fulfill her bail conditions, and the matter was adjourned to 4 April 2017 for hearing.
