During the rescue operation, the police arrested two suspects, identified as Rowland Egbe, 30, and a 50-year-old woman, Mrs Chioma Ohajinmmadu, a would-be buyer of the boy.

The boy, it was gathered, was lured with biscuits and Gala by the heartless traffickers.

He has already been reunited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Uzoma Ozuoba.

The Abia State Commissioner Of Police, Leye Oyebade, disclosed that Egbe was arrested while taking the abducted boy to the would-be buyer.

During interrogation, Egbe confessed that he had earlier sold a female child to Ohajinmmadu through a middle-man, Uche, and that he was paid N50,000 out of the agreed price of N150,000.

He said Chioma wanted a male child, so he had to kidnap Obinna for her.

He said that he knew Obinna’s parents and the boy knew him.

The CP said Egbe had earlier sold another boy, Maxwell, two weeks before his arrest, and that Egbe worked in connivance with one Uche, who is said to be currently at large.

In an interview, the buyer said that she decided to buy the boy because she did not have a male child.

According to her, “I paid N150,000 for the boy that was first sold to me. But I gave him to another woman because I wanted a fair complexioned boy whose skin would blend with that of my family.” .

She claimed that she did not know where the woman who purchased the first boy, identified as Maxwell, from her lived, as the business was transacted on the street.
